Astolfo Cosplay Costumes of 2024
If there’s one anime character that has caused both admiration and confusion for people at the same time, it has to be Astolfo. Inspired by one of Charlemagne’s paladins in the history of the Holy Roman Empire, the Astolfo of Fate/Apocrypha is a really loose interpretation of that historical figure in both appearance and personality. Let’s take a look at what it takes to cosplay as one of the most popular anime characters in recent years.
Who is Astolfo?
Astolfo is a Rider-class Servant of Celenike Icecolle Yggdmillennia of the Black Faction in the Great Holy Grail War of Fate/Apocrypha, also known as the Rider of “Black”. He then served as one of the Servants of Ritsuka Fujimaru in Fate/Grand Order. If you’re not a Fate fan and found that confusing, that’s just because the Fate universe is quite thick in lore.
He’s a very optimistic and curious individual, and he likes to go on adventures for leisure. He is the cousin of Roland and is included among the Twelve Peers, although he is described as not that strong. But that belies his true strength, which are his unrelenting optimism and sheer luck.
How to Look Like Astolfo
Astolfo’s most distinctive physical feature is his androgynous look with shoulder-length pink hair, fair complexion, and slender figure. He wears his long hair in a braid with a black ribbon tied on the end. He purposefully dresses “as a girl” because he likes cute things, which is also shown by his cheerful demeanor.
He was described in legend as the most handsome among the Twelve Peers of Charlemagne. While Astolfo does look good, his appearance is not what most people would expect. Legends do tend to get distorted, after all.
Astolfo Cosplay Variations
Astolfo cosplay is quite popular due to how Astolfo is as a character, both in his premise and his cheerful appearance. There are plenty of Astolfo cosplays out there with people dressing in casual outfits as Astolfo, and that’s all good. But if you want to cosplay him as how he is in the series, there are two main variations of the Astolfo costume.
Fate/Apocrypha
His main battle outfit is composed of a black long-sleeved dress with a red design near the collar and a white armored skirt with gold and red accents. Over that is a white cape with a furry collar and red inner lining. He wears white elbow-length gloves and a pair of red bands around the biceps. Under that are a pair of black thigh-high stockings and white boots with gold accents. He has his sword in a white sheath worn on his left side.

Fate/Grand Order Stage 3
His Stage 3 appearance in the mobile game Fate/Grand Order is still mostly similar with his main battle outfit, except with two notable exceptions. He now wears a red cape instead of white and he wears a coronet on his head.
School Sailor Uniform
You may have seen this a lot online, and with good reason. Astolfo sometimes wears a pink sailor uniform with a pink collar with white stripes, pink sleeve cuffs with white stripes, and a pink skirt with white stripes along the hem. He also wears a pink ascot over his white blouse.
Casual Outfit
Astolfo can sometimes be seen wearing a crop top with white and pink stripes and violet collar and hem over a bright violet long-sleeved crop jacket with black hem and cuffs. Below that, he wears a black short skirt with a teal belt with silver buckle worn loosely around the hip, along with black stocking leggings and bright violet boots with black laces. He also wears black ribbons on each side of his hair.
For those who love the intricate details in Astolfo’s costume, you won’t want to miss the equally eye-catching costumes of Sailor Moon and Raphtalia from The Rising of the Shield Hero.
