Wearing a wig can be both exciting and scary. With the wide variety to choose from, you can have the hair of your desired style and color minus the risk of damaging your natural hair. However, it is quite essential that you would know the proper ways of both wearing and handling your wigs. If you’re more of a visual learner, take a look at this video from JakCosplay explaining how to put on a wig.
How To Wear A Wig
The first thing to do before you put on your wig is to ready your natural hair. For those who have little to no hair, wearing a wig cap will be needed to keep your wig on securely. If you have short hair, just brush your hair back and away from your face. Make sure it stays put. For those who have long hair, you will have to pin your locks up. Section your hair and put them into flat pin curls to keep them in place. Make sure there are no bumps and bulks while doing so.
With both of your hands, hold your wig by the nape, then tilt your head forward, and put it on in a front-to-back motion. This way, you can position your wig easily on your head.
Place the front part of your wig just above your eyebrows then slip it on your head like a shower cap. Move it from front to back to place it properly on your head.
Carefully push the front of the wig back until it lies just right below your own natural hairline. Position your wig from the center then down toward its ear tabs and place them down in front of your ears on both sides. When you feel it comfortably positioned on your head, tuck in your stray hairs to make the finished look neat and tidy.
If the wig feels loose or tight, you can adjust it through its adjustable Velcro tabs. You can find it at the back of the wig and loosen or tighten it according to your desired fit.
