Rengoku Cosplay Costumes of 2024
Do you want to cosplay as the true star of the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train movie? The Flame PIllar made an impact on Demon Slayer fans during his short time in the spotlight due to both his combat prowess and his infectious positivity. Here are a few things you need to understand in order to cosplay as Rengoku of Demon Slayer.
Who is Rengoku?
Kyojuro Rengoku is the Flame Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps. As one of the Pillars, he is one of the strongest Demon Slayers of his time, having been trained in the Breath of Flame style. His personality is as bright and blazing as the flame, full of enthusiasm and cheerfulness.
Despite the darkness of their world due to the shadow cast by the demons, he serves as a beacon of light among the Demon Slayers and the Pillars, most of whom tend to range from somber to violent in demeanor.
Rengoku is amiable and pure of heart, adhering to a code of honor as both a warrior and a leader of the Demon Slayers. He got most of these qualities from his mother, who taught him from a young age that those who were born strong have a duty to protect the weak. He also believes that lack of talent can always be overcome with hard work.
Underneath his enthusiastic demeanor, he is also a rational and tactical thinker, able to think on his feet in the middle of battle. He also is able to see talent and potential in others, like the Demon Slayers under him and even Nezuko, a demon he once thought of killing before changing his mind after witnessing her risk her life to save and protect others.
He worries about his father, the former Flame Pillar, Shinjuro, who has since turned to alcohol to cope while gradually becoming more aggressive and apathetic towards Kyojuro. Meanwhile, he’s loving and encouraging towards his little brother, Senjuro. One of his last thoughts in life was about them both, wishing his father to take care of his body and his little brother to follow his dreams.
How to look like Rengoku?
Rengoku’s most distinct physical feature is his wild and bright blonde hair with red streaks, akin to flames. They have shoulder-length bangs and two chin-length bangs framing his face. He also has black forked eyebrows and golden eyes that fade to red with white pupils, giving him a very distinct appearance that makes him stand out from the crowd. When you first see him, you’ll immediately know that he’s the Flame Pillar.
Another distinctive characteristic of his is how wide his eyes tend to look and how he seems like he’s always beaming as if he’s always on and at attention. This reflects his air of great optimism, even in the face of crisis. This is most evident during the climax of Mugen Train, wherein he remains steadfast and brave even when he had all the odds against him. Also, he tends to shout “UMAI” whenever he eats something delicious, like the bento he chows down on in the Mugen Train.
Inosuke Cosplay Variations
The Rengoku cosplay isn’t just about getting the hair, eyes, and Rengoku costume right, but also getting his sunny demeanor right. Rengoku isn’t just a side character in the anime, but an experience as well. He became the focus of the Mugen Train arc for good reason, so you should become the focus of any cosplay group as well by getting his character down.

Rengoku wears a pale brown version of the regular Demon Slayer uniform consisting of a gakuran jacket, white belt, and tattsuke-hakama pants. Over that, he wears his haori with white-yellow gradient pattern and red flame ridges. Along with that, he wears a red kyahan shinguards with yellow flames, pale brown tabi socks, and a pair of white zori sandals with red straps. His outfit is a mix of his flame aesthetics with the
Before he became the Flame Pillar, he wore a completely white haori instead of the flame-patterned one. It’s worth noting that the haori was likely his father’s, who wore it while he was the Flame Pillar. Whether the flame haori was handed down from his father or he had one like it made for his tenure as Flame Pillar, no one knows for sure.
If you’re drawn to the fiery spirit and nobility of Rengoku, you might also find inspiration in the relentless determination of Tanjiro, the wild unpredictability of Inosuke, or the complex character of Zenitsu.
